Part of Opéra de Québec’s official press release:
The Merry Widow, the world’s most popular operetta
Since its creation, The Merry Widow has remained a must-see operetta, a captivating work both for its charming music (The Merry Widow Waltz) as for its blend of romance and humour. In order to keep a widow and her considerable fortune in the country, the ambassador of Marsovia is desperately trying to arrange a new marriage between the heiress and the man she once loved in her younger days.

The primary duo of Missia Palmieri and Prince Danilo will be portrayed by the Canadian soprano Leslie Ann Bradley and the Brazilian baritone Armando Noguera. The two artists have had very successful international careers for several years now and this will be their first visit to Québec. Staged and directed by François Racine, the production will feature the best local Québec talents including the baritone-bass Robert Huard in the role of Baron Popoff, the soprano Judith Bouchard as Nadia, the tenor Keven Geddes as Camille de Coutançon, Jack Robitaille as Figg and many others. Mr Stéphane Larofest from the Orchestre symphonique de Sherbrooke will be the guest conductor of this production.

The performances will take place on the 18 (at 7 pm), 21, 23 and 25 (at 8 pm) of October 2014 at the Grand Théâtre de Québec. With the Choeur de l’Opéra”
